The animation is gorgeous!
One question: is the spinning motion between the 2nd and 3rd strikes a dodge/parry? It's very natural and fluid looking as a movement, but I'm not sure what role that motion plays in the attack, since it looks like she's spinning counter-clockwise, then attacking clockwise. If it's a dodge (with enemy attack not shown), it makes perfect sense, but if it's part of the attack, I'm wondering if I'm interpreting it as intended.
(I'm not familiar with Nier: Automata, so that could be a reason I'm confused as well).
Please keep up the wonderful work.
Thank you! Yes, the move between the second and third slash looks strange because in reality (in game) the character is supposed to throw the sword forward after the second strike (like send it spinning with force in the direction the character is facing), and after throwing it she makes a spin, continuing to move due to inertia, and then before the last strike she catches it and is throwing again. I initially wanted to draw the whole throwing animation with the blade spinning, but decided to crop the image to show only the character (and probably forgot to add a spinning sword along the way :D)
Here's the combo in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq9TNAGv6NY
It looks way faster and crisp in game, I slowed it down (maybe too much).
